A muse is someone (or something) that sparks inspiration, pushing a person to create beyond what they could on their own—ultimately shaping a work of art. Traditionally, muses have been deeply knowledgeable in literature, the arts, and sciences. In ancient times, poets and artists would call upon a muse to guide them through creative blocks, help them access deeper emotions, and transform frustration into something truly exceptional.

A muse can take many forms—a stranger the artist never speaks to, a friend, a teacher, a fleeting infatuation, or even a lover. While people often assume a muse must be a romantic partner, that’s not usually the case. In fact, many of the most powerful muses never become romantic relationships at all.

As mentioned earlier, muses are well-versed in literature, the arts, and the sciences. And what topic is more deeply woven into all three of those disciplines than love and relationships?
